Its another busy week around here this week so lets push on with the news.
Highlights this week
- Wilco have taken our album of the week prize this week with their rather cleverly named album “The Album” and its on special offer for only €14.99 for one week only. All purchases in store will also receive a rather lovely full colour A2 sized poster.
- Irish band Adebisi Shank have just released a limited edition 10” version of their debut album.

Wilco-Wilco [the album]-Wilco return with their seventh studio album. Produced by the band themselves and jim scott. Recorded in roundhead studios in auckland and then finished in their own loft studios in chicago. Jim o rourke has now departed so the band on this one is jeff tweedy, john striratt, glen kotche, mikael jorgensen, nels cline and pat sansone. Its very much an album that sees wilco head back to their older rootsy almost melodic pop sound again with the majority of the tracks clocking in at the four minute mark. They seem to have ditched the more experimental sounds in favour of just good old style solid guitar driven roots sounds. There are a couple of rather beautiful laid back ballads thrown in complete with some awesome slide guitar action but on the whole this is wilco back in melodic rock teritory with an album of perfectly hummable roots rock anthems. Black moth super rainbow-Eating us-Brand new album on memphis industries produced by dave fridmann of flaming lips and mercury fame. Previous releases have delved into the tripped out world of psyche rock and space rock but this one goes straight for the kind of melodic synth pop sounds of bands like air. Its full of dreamy synths, heavily treated vocals and floaty synth pop sounds. Its a beautiful blend of sweet female vocals and fuzzy space rock. Kind of reminds me of air, early goldfrapp and broadcast all jamming together. June 2009-Cd-Memphis industries-€12.99
Camera obscura-Lets get out of this country [double cd reissue]-Album number 3 from one of glasgows finest indie pop bands. What makes these guys stand out is their total love of sixties pop sounds particularly the sounds of motown and the phil spector era. Not only did tracyanne campbell write all the songs on this album but she possesses one of the sexiest voices on the planet. Bittersweet love songs that will put a smile on your face. You get everything from the country tinged dory previn to the blistering sixties pop opener lloyd im ready to be heartbroken. Dont be scared by all the pop references as these guys write some of the most clever songs you will hear all year. Just one listen and we guarantee you will be in love with them. 10 track album on the elefant label. Originally released in 2006. Camera obscura-Under achievers please try harder [double cd reissue]-Glaswegian indie pop outfit mixing up belle and sebastian with their own distinct sounds of early motown, phip spector and pure happy indie pop. Still after all these years its one of the finest pop records of all time. Originally released back in 2003. The album has now been reissued and comes packaged with thier cd single for lets get out of this country. The ep features the tracks lets get out of this country, lemon juice and paper cuts and also return to send her.-2cd-Elefant-€15.99
Cash, johnny-Greatest-Originally released in 1959 by the sun label. A slightly misleading title as this is not a greatest hits but rather a collection of hard to find b sides and unreleased recordings that cash left behind after leaving the sun label. Its a fine addition to his previous two sun albums and features a few rare gems including two hank williams tracks you win again and hey good lookin, a cover of the charlie feathers gem i forgot to remember to forget and the all time classic get rhythm. Chocolate watch band-No way out-The original debut album from one of the finest psychedelic garage rock bands of all time in our humble opinion. Dylan, bob-Bob dylan-Bob dylans very first album from way back in 1962. Released on the columbia label. Low anthem-Oh my god charlie darwin-The second full length album from the low anthem and their first for their new label bella union. The album features a rather beautiful collection of laid back rootsy folk sounds and the odd bit of full on barroom rootsy rock n roll. Its a hauntingly intimate collection of mostly acoustic based sounds with some lovely slide guitar and fiddle action. The album has a lovely rustic feel about it with some gentle country vibes comparable to the likes of whiskeytown and the alt country scene that followed them. Its also got hints of the likes of red house painters, my morning jacket and even elliott smith. Its one of those rare quiet gems thats both perfectly sombre and strangely uplifting at the same time. Morrison, van-Astral weeks-Reissue of this truly classic van morrison album. Originally released way back in 1968, hard to believe really. The album is now remastered and pressed on lovely heavyweight 180 gram vinyl and comes in a heavy card sleeve. Features astral weeks, beside you, sweet thing, cyprus avenue, young lovers do, madame george, ballerina and slim slow rider. Possibly still one of van morrisons finest albums of all time. This is very much a different beast compared to his first collection with this album incorporating lots more electronc beats and even a nod towards pure pop sounds. I think most will agree this was the album that really turned him into a worldwide superstar and features one classic single after another. Features lets go crazy. Take me with u, the beautiful ones, computer blue, darling nikki, when doves cry, i would die 4 u, baby im a star and the epic title track purple rain. Sir richard bishop-The freak of araby-Brand new solo album from the sun city girls member. The freak of araby was inspired by the music of lebanon after bishop recorded a cover of an elias rahbani track. Bishop is also half lebanese by birth so it was no wonder he would eventually delve into the hypnotic sounds of the middle east. Bishop is joined on the epic closing track by a host of moroccan chanters. If you are into your meditative and hypnotic guitar sounds this could be one of your albums of the year so far. Sounding at times like a more eastern european take on the guitar picking of the likes john fahey with hints of everything from flemenco to avant garde surf music. For lovers of solo guitar music this is pure manna from heaven. June 2009-Lp-Drag city-€15.99

Wildbirds and peacedrums-The snake [limited edition gold vinyl pressing]-The return of this swedish duo with their second album for the leaf label. Its another fine collection of weird folk and avant rock sounds. The album is pretty much entirely based around a drum kit and the human voice. The album features lots of songs based around pure percussive sounds and a voice used more like an instrument with lots of tribal like chanting. At times it kind of reminds me of a more rustic organic sounding bjork or kate bush in a slightly more avant rock mood. Its all quite hypnotic and trance like with a couple of tracks featuring a haunting choir like vocal effect. Limited edition gold vinyl pressing. June 2009-Lp-The leaf label-€18.99
Wilson, larry jon-Larry jon wilson-The first new studio album from folk singer larry jon wilson in nearly 30 years. Back in the day wilson was an associate of the likes of townes van zandt and guy clark. Wilson insisted on the album being all acoustic and as rustic as possible before agreeing to get involved in the recording which is a good thing when you hear how well it turned out. The album kind of reminds me of the sombre feel from the last few johnny cash albums. The album pretty much just features wilson and his beautifullly mellow guitar picking style. Its an album that you could easily have been made 30 years ago, its that kind of timeless country folk vibe. Wonderfully simple stuff packed with powerful emotion. June 2009-Lp-Drag city-€15.99
Zz top-Fandango [limited 180 gram vinyl reissue]-Originally released in 1975 on the warners label, this was their follow up to the tres hombres album. The album is basically two albums together. The first side features an unedited live show from the warehouse in new orleans without the assistance of studio gimmicks, as it states on the back of the sleeve. The second side features zz top back in the studios and features gems like tush, heard it on the x along with nasty dogs and funky kings, blue jean blues, balinese and mexican blackbird. Animal collective-Strawberry jam-The one thing i most love about animal collective albums is the total challenge they offer up to people like me trying to describe it to you, yes its quite bonkers but in a totally hypnotic and catchy way, take a bit of the beach boys smile and add in some syd barret solo material along with lots of analog synth sounds and most likely hundreds of other sound effects, the album opens up with the truly superb peacebone single which is one of the finest pieces of psychedelic electronic pop you will hear all year round, the band seem to have this very special knack of holding all their sounds together with their beach boys likes vocal harmonies whilst all sorts of madness is looping around in the background, sixties wah wah like guitar sounds do battle with squelchy synths and moments of the out there rock of the flaming lips, this is probably their most accessible album to date so far and fans of the likes of arcade fire etc should really give this one a little spin as you will be very very pleasantly surprised, an early contender for weird album of the year so far, september 2007-Cd-Domino-€9.99

Callahan, bill-Sometimes i wish we were an eagle [aka smog]-The return of one of our all time favourites around here. This is the second album to be released under his own name after several long years recording under the smog moniker. Its pretty much a back to basics classic collection of dark hearted sounds from callahan with elements of both laid back folk and country roots. This album also sees the introduction of lots of lush strings and horn sounds giving it a somewhat more full slightly orchesral feel. A real intimate gem that long time fans will simply adore. Its simply one of the most perfect collections of mellow late night electronica you will find at the moment. Layered over the subtle beats and ambient soundscapes are some truly beautiful intricate guitar picking bordering on spanish flamenco at times. Horrors-Primary colours-The horrors return after a two year break since their debut album strange house with a new album and a distinctly different more polished sound. The album kicks off with a big thunderous piece of darkly gothic tinged new wave indie rock coming across like my bloody valentine jamming with interpol. There is still plenty of their early garage rock influences in here with heaps of energy filled fuzzed up post punk sounds but these guys have added so many new elements to their overall sound that its hard to believe its the same band. The album features lots of slowed down guitar effects, sleazy organs and echoing sound effects. There are certain tracks that kind of evoke the spirit of joy division with a slightly more raw garage rock feel. Its a real step forward and a damn fine album too. Roberts, alasdair-Spoils-Appendix out frontman returns with a superb new collection on the drag city label. Roberts has enlisted fellow appencix out members tom crossly and gareth eggie to assist on the album along with baroque guitarist gordon ferries, percussionist alex nielson, niko matti ahti from finnish outfit kiila and concerto calendonia members david mcguinness and alison mcgillivray. Its an album of beautifully intimate and rustic folk songs with lots of traditional instrumentation. Fans of the fence collective label or the likes of king creosote, bonnie prince and james yorkston will simply adore this one. May 2009-Cd-Drag city-€13.99

Spook of the thirteenth lock-The spook of the thirteenth lock-The wonderful debut album from dublin based outfit on the transduction label. The band is fronted by former holy ghost father alan blighe. This is quite possibly one of the finest and most diverse collections of trad tinged irish folk you will hear in quite some time. Its not often you can use the words trad, post rock, pogues and prog rock in the same review but this here album has a bit of all that and much much more. From track to track you could be listening to the pogues and then suddenly planxty appear before hypnotic guitars take you off on a totally prog like post rock experience. I simply love albums that challenge both your ears and mind whilst listening but the other beauty of this one here is the fact that every single listen gives you something else completely different back. Dont let it be twenty years before people realise just how good this band are. May 2008-Cd-Transduction-€11.99
St vincent-Actor-St vincent is annie clark from tulsa and along with being a member of the polyphonic spree in the past she is also a member of sufjan stevens touring band, this is her second solo album under the st vincent moniker and her first for the 4ad label. Her band on this album features guest spots from mckenzie smith and paul alexander from midlake. The album is another super collection of kooky off kilter indie pop sounds with hints of bjork, kate bush, chamber pop, scuzzy indie rock, piano led ballads and string led cinematic sounds. The album features lots of orchestral backing tracks as clark then weaves her multitracked voice in and out with totally dramatic effect. Its one of those rare little gems that just impossible to pigeonhole into any particular genre so take my advice and have a listen. May 2009-Cd-4ad-€13.99

Super furry animals-Dark days light years-A real return to form in our opinion from one of our all time favourite bands around here. This one really brings us back to the pure psyche pop sounds of phantom power and its jam packed with some of the catchiest tunes that this welsh outfit have penned in many years. When these guys find a groove they really know how to lash out the funky psyche rock sounds with plenty of tracks bringing me back to the classic sounds of singles like golden retriever and rings around the world. Its obvious their time off in various solo and side projects has given them a whole new lease of life again. April 2009-Cd-Rough trade-€13.99
Tiny magnetic pets-Return of the tiny magnetic pets-Tiny magnetic pets are a new electronic synth pop outfit based around the songwriting skills of irish pair paula gilmer and sean quinn. This is their debut release for irish label psychonavigation, home to rsag amongst others. Sean quinn is one of the main songwriters in electric penguins whilst gilmer has released tracks on the ministry of sound label along with being former member of a band with mark sheehan from the script. The band recorded this album entirely live in the studio using tons of old analog equipment. The resulting album falls somewhere between the classic electronic sounds of kraftwerk and pulsating eighties electro pop. Its a beautifully melodic collection of laid back electronic pop sounds with a bit of everything from stereolab to goldfrapp in here. May 2009-Cd-Psychonavigation-€14.99
Tricca, emma-Minor white-Italian born and london based singer songwriter releases her debut album for the finders keepers offshoot label bird. The album features a really lovely collection of rustic old time folk sounds with a similar kind of haunting beauty to the likes of marissa nadler or vashti bunyan. The majority of the album features just tricca and gently picked acoustic guitar. There is a somewhat seventies like folk feel about the album which has a similar sparseness to artists like nick drake. A real treat for lovers of retro sounding folk music. Limited edition vinyl pressing comes in a beautiful old style heavy card sleeve with wraparound label. May 2009-Lp-Bird-€16.99

Whitest boy alive-Dreams-The whited boy alive is the brand new project from kings of convenience frontman erlend oye, erlend has hinted at greatness on his solo material before with his summery brand of electronic sounds but this is by far his finest hour, he has taken his bouncy electronic pop sounds and added a heap of lazy seventies pop rock to the mix, phoenix do it with seventies rock but mr oye really knows his way around a classy seventies pop sound, his voice is so perfect for this type of sound, having made a solo record this good you kinda wonder will we ever see the kings of convenience again,-Lp-Asounds-€24.99
Whitest boy alive-Rules [aka erlend oye]-The second album from this electro pop outfit fronted by ex kings of convenience vocalist erlend oye. The album features an infectiously catchy blend of laid back electro pop sounds, seventies disco and some weird king of guitar led house hybrid. Its all beautifully lush and quite laid back featuring lots of live funky bass, jazzy like guitar sounds and oyes sumptuous vocals. Its one of those albums that you really have to hear yourself to truly appreciate but i can imagine fans of the likes of air, phoenix and classic eighties electro pop truly loving this one. Road Records new stock - June 18th
Welcome to this weeks Road Records newsletter.
Here is a brief rundown of our personal highlights this week. We have been very bold and picked two albums of the week again this week with both Tortoise and Dinosaur Jr winning us over. If we could we would have done three albums of the week as the new God Help The Girl [with Stuart Murdoch from Belle And Sebastian] is pretty damn good too.
- As mentioned, albums of the week this week are Tortoise and Dinosaur Jr. The Tortoise album will be €12.99 on cd and €15.99 on vinyl for one week only. Dinosaur Jr is only €12.99 on cd for this week, we will have the vinyl version next week for you.
- Stuart Murdoch, of Belle And Sebastian fame, has a new project on the go at the moment called God Help The Girl with a host of guest vocalists and musicians. The debut album is now in stock and on special this week for only €14.99 on cd with limited hardback book sleeve, €13.99 for the normal cd verions and €19.99 on vinyl.
- The new Bibio album on Warp Records is out this week and its only €16.99 for the double vinyl and €13.99 on cd
- One of our favourite electronic artists, Biosphere, has a new live album out today on the Touch label.
- Doom Jazz outfit Bohren And Der Club Of Gore have a new mini album out this week as part of the “Latitudes” series on Southern Records.
- We are beginning to build up our all new “Classic Irish Folk” section at the moment and new additions this week include albums from Planxty, The Bothy Band and Christy Moore.
- Jarvis Cocker has a new single out today and its taken from his recent album Further Complications
- Deerhunter have a lovely little five track mini album out today on 4AD.
- Eels are back with a pretty rocking new collection “Hombre Lobo”
- Our single of the week goes to a noisy old post punk gem “Sex Bomb” from Flipper. Their first four albums are about to be reissued by Domino records and this is a great taster from them.
- The Darla label have a super new double cd compilation out this week featuring 32 gems from around the world, the album even features our very own Tiny Magnetic Pets.
- White Denim is our last big special of the week this week with the album going for only €12.99 on cd and €17.99 on vinyl.
- You can now preorder the new Talula Does The Hula debut single and we will get the band to sign them for you before we ship em out. The band features ex members of The Chalets and Neosupervital.
- We are also now taking preorders for the upcoming album from The Duckworth Lewis Method. This is an album dedicated to the world of cricket and features the first collaboration between Neil Hannon [Divine Comedy] and Thomas Walsh [Pugwash]

An album of really lovely laid back electronic folky tinged sounds with hints of everything from electronic funk to beat driven krautrock. At times sounding a bit like broadcast or stereolab on a more psyche folk buzz whilst some tracks also remind me of four tet with added acoustic guitar picking. The more mellow acoustic based songs kind of sound a bit like nick drake all messed up by four tet. Realy lovely stuff and a fine addition to the warp label. Biosphere-Wireless [live in bristol]-Geir jenssen delivers his first ever official live album on the touch label. Recorded back in 2007 in bristol as part of the touch 25 live event. The album features a continuous hour long piece with brand new material mixed in with some familiar tracks from earlier studio albums. The album features live versions of tracks from shenzou, dropsonde and substrata. This is a collection of the much more dubby electronica side of jenssens sound with lots of gentle beats reminiscent of the likes of pole. Fans of his dropsonde album will love this one as jenssen uses jazz like percussive elements to generate some truly hypnotic moods. Its almost like a live best of and a rather excellent way to introduce yourself to the world of biosphere. Probably one of our favourite electronic artists around at the moment. Vampires of dartmoor-Draculas music cabinet-You can always depend on the finders keepers label to unearth long long psychedelic gems and this here collection is not going to disappoint long time fans of the labels sound. This collection of weird psychedelia was originally made by a bunch of crazy german musicians whose day job was making library recordings. They decided to kick back a bit and made this film soundtrack to a film that never existed. Its a good story but the album disappeared into obscurity upon its release. The album was recently discovered by the good folks at finders keepers who gladly decided that the world was ready for it at last. Van zandt, townes-Our mother the mountain-Reissue of van zandts second album from way back in 1969. Produced by keven eggers and jack clement the album features eleven classic early van zandt tunes. Fugazi-13 songs-As you would expect this is a 13 track collection from 1989. The album is basically a compilation of two mini albums from 1988 and 1989. Features all the tracks from their self titled relased in 1988 and also the margin walker release from 1989. O beirne, gerry-Half moon bay-The first album from this irish based singer songwriter. Released back in 1999 on his own label. Features a lovely blend of acoustic folk sounds and mellow instrumental acoustic guitar picking.-Cd-Own label-€14.99

Schnauss, ulrich-A strangely isolated place-This album has kind of gained legendary status around here as one of the most outstanding collections of mellow electronica meets classic shoegazing layered guitars. Try to imagine the mellow leftfield electronic beats of the likes of boards of canada blended with the lush guitar sounds of my bloody valentine or the cocteau twins. Its quite simply one of the most beautiful records you will ever hear in our opinion and is just one of those perfectly soothing records. The album was originally released in 2003 on city centre offices and now get a well deserved reissue with bonus tracks remixed by former cocteau twins guitarist robin guthrie.-Cd-Independiente-€17.99
Sill, judee-Judee sill-The debut album from this much underrated singer songwriter from 1971, originally released on the atlantic label, this reissue on the water label features the original 11 track album in its original format and doesnt contain the bonus material from the rhino reissues which are now out of print, december 2005-Cd-Water-€17.99
Silver mt zion-13 blues for thirteen moons-The fifth full length album from this montreal based collective featuring ex members of godspeed and several other outfits on the constellation records roster. The album carries on the theme of their previous album horses in the sky with the addition again of the tra la la band. Efrim from godspeed is back in vocal duties again with album having full vocal tracks on nearly every track. Their blues like dirges are quite reminscent at times to the sleazy swamp rock of the swans with plenty of their own trademark meandering post rock guitar riff action. Its full of cacophonous explosive sounds breaking down into some really beautiful scratchy violin led sounds more akin to some early godspeed. Features four beautifully long expansive pieces of music with a really rustic rough edge to it. Comes in a lovely card gatefold sleeve. April 2008-Cd-Constallation-€17.99

Here is a brief rundown of our personal highlights this week. We have been very bold and picked two albums of the week again this week with both Tortoise and Dinosaur Jr winning us over. If we could we would have done three albums of the week as the new God Help The Girl [with Stuart Murdoch from Belle And Sebastian] is pretty damn good too.
- As mentioned, albums of the week this week are Tortoise and Dinosaur Jr. The Tortoise album will be €12.99 on cd and €15.99 on vinyl for one week only. Dinosaur Jr is only €12.99 on cd for this week, we will have the vinyl version next week for you.
- Stuart Murdoch, of Belle And Sebastian fame, has a new project on the go at the moment called God Help The Girl with a host of guest vocalists and musicians. The debut album is now in stock and on special this week for only €14.99 on cd with limited hardback book sleeve, €13.99 for the normal cd verions and €19.99 on vinyl.
- The new Bibio album on Warp Records is out this week and its only €16.99 for the double vinyl and €13.99 on cd
- One of our favourite electronic artists, Biosphere, has a new live album out today on the Touch label.
- Doom Jazz outfit Bohren And Der Club Of Gore have a new mini album out this week as part of the “Latitudes” series on Southern Records.

- Jarvis Cocker has a new single out today and its taken from his recent album Further Complications

- Eels are back with a pretty rocking new collection “Hombre Lobo”
- Our single of the week goes to a noisy old post punk gem “Sex Bomb” from Flipper. Their first four albums are about to be reissued by Domino records and this is a great taster from them.
- The Darla label have a super new double cd compilation out this week featuring 32 gems from around the world, the album even features our very own Tiny Magnetic Pets.

Tortoise-Beacons of ancestorship-Tortoise return with their sixth full length studio album and their first release of new material in five years. The album kind of fits snuggly between the early post rock sounds of the first two albums and the more electronic based funked up sounds of tnt. Its an album bristling with funky krautrock vibes and even sees tortoise dipping their toes into the wobbly bass world of dubstep on a couple of tracks. Its one of the more uptempo beat driven tortoise albums in quite a while with john mecntire providing the backbone of funky jazz like live drums. Its hard to know what to write about a new dinosaur jr album that you probably dont already know. The most reassuring thing is that its sounds exactly as you would want it to sound. The album features back to back classics delivered in their own distinctly laid back way. Full of ear piercing guitar solos, blistering grunge rock and slacker rock sounds. These guys have had many imitators over the years but when you hear the real thing you realise just how awesome they can be. Its pretty much as perfect as dinosaur jr can get. June 2009-Cd-Pil-€12.99

Biosphere-Wireless [live in bristol]-Geir jenssen delivers his first ever official live album on the touch label. Recorded back in 2007 in bristol as part of the touch 25 live event. The album features a continuous hour long piece with brand new material mixed in with some familiar tracks from earlier studio albums. The album features live versions of tracks from shenzou, dropsonde and substrata. This is a collection of the much more dubby electronica side of jenssens sound with lots of gentle beats reminiscent of the likes of pole. Fans of his dropsonde album will love this one as jenssen uses jazz like percussive elements to generate some truly hypnotic moods. Its almost like a live best of and a rather excellent way to introduce yourself to the world of biosphere. Probably one of our favourite electronic artists around at the moment. Biram, scott h-Somethings wrong lost forever [with bonus mp3 download]-The return of this one man rustic blues show with his third album for the bloodshot label. The album features a perfectly raw collection of both old time blues sounds and country tinged folk. Comparable at times to the raw sounds of artists like william elliott whitmore this is a man who also spent much of his youth in noisy punk bands before heading off on a solo career. There is still a bit of the old punk rock spirit about his delivery which sees biram almost spitting out the words on the more uptempo tracks. I can kind of hear the spirit of early johnny cash in here. One for fans of rustic alt country, seasick steve, william elliott whitmore and the likes. Bohren and der club of gore-Mitleid lady-Limited to only 1000 copies in a beautiful foldout sleeve. We finally managed to get our hands on this special release from the true kings of doom jazz. Released as part of the ongoing latitudes series on the southern label. This mini album features just one lenghty 10 minute track recorded specially for this release. These guys kind of remind of a bizzare blend of the quirky alt rock of arcade fire and the emotionally driven folk rock of jeff buckley. Its full of lush strings, piano driven ballads and plenty of fuzzed up alt rock guitar sounds. Featuring lots of slow building ballads turning into big washes of heavy folk rock and post rock sounds. There are times when the album reminds me a bit of the early sounds of mercury rev with lots of euphoric explosions of noise and slow building crescendos. Eels-Hombre lobo [12 songs of desire]-Eels return with a brand new 12 track collection on the vagrant label. This is a an album of two very different and distinct sounds. First up comes with truly superb fuzzed up kind of grunge pop sounds. Kind of reminds me a wee bit of the more funked up indie rock sounds of beck blended with the classic early sounds of the seattle grunge rock scene. Its definitely one of his most raw and outright rocking albums in quite some time. Fahey, john-After the ball-Originally released in 1973 this was one of only two albums that fahey made for the reprise label. The album is quite unusual for the fact that it featured a full band and orchestra throughout. On some tracks fahey is backed by an almost dixieland like jazz band featuring mandolin, banjo and ukelele. The remainder of the album sees fahey playing along with a full orchestra. These tracks have all been culled from the vaults of the highly influential treasure isle label. The album opens up with his massive hit carry go bring come which was also the first track he cut for the label in 1963 with duke reid at the controls. Stanley brothers-Earliest recordings [the complete rich r tone 78s]-A collection of beautiful gospel and bluegrass tunes recorded for the rich r tone label between 1947 and 1952. Features a collection of traditional gospel songs along with a few self penned gems like little maggie. Vampires of dartmoor-Draculas music cabinet-You can always depend on the finders keepers label to unearth long long psychedelic gems and this here collection is not going to disappoint long time fans of the labels sound. This collection of weird psychedelia was originally made by a bunch of crazy german musicians whose day job was making library recordings. They decided to kick back a bit and made this film soundtrack to a film that never existed. Its a good story but the album disappeared into obscurity upon its release. The album was recently discovered by the good folks at finders keepers who gladly decided that the world was ready for it at last. Silver mt zion-13 blues for thirteen moons-The fifth full length album from this montreal based collective featuring ex members of godspeed and several other outfits on the constellation records roster. The album carries on the theme of their previous album horses in the sky with the addition again of the tra la la band. Efrim from godspeed is back in vocal duties again with album having full vocal tracks on nearly every track. Their blues like dirges are quite reminscent at times to the sleazy swamp rock of the swans with plenty of their own trademark meandering post rock guitar riff action. Its full of cacophonous explosive sounds breaking down into some really beautiful scratchy violin led sounds more akin to some early godspeed.
